MUSEU PARANAENSE: MEMÓRIA E HISTÓRIA DO/SOBRE O SUJEITO MULHER

Abstract

The objective of this research is to understand, through the functioning of memory and history, the way in which the Museu Paranaense (MUPA) gives visibility and produces discourses about the female subject in the exhibition entitled Objeto Sujeito (Subject Object). Our object of research is the narratives in the exhibition and as a corpus of analysis we cut out the narratives that will be analyzed in discursive sequences (DSs). To this end, we anchored ourselves theoretically and methodologically in the Discourse Analysis formulated by Michel Pêcheux, in France, taken up and disseminated in Brazil by Eni Orlandi and other researchers who, based on Pêcheux's legacy, have developed and continue to advance the theory based on discussions and contributions to this area of scientific knowledge. In addition, we base ourselves on studies on Museums, developed by Maria Cleci Venturini, understanding the museum space as a place of memory, of permanence, of erasures and of the presentification of the past (Venturini, [2009] 2024). Historically, the imaginary about women is made up of effects of meaning around fragility, submission and inferiority in relation to male subjects. In view of this, the question to be answered in this research is: How does the Museu Paranaense give visibility to the female subject in the exhibition Objeto Sujeito and whether the discourses that circulate in/through the Museum (re)produce or transform already sedimented meanings about women in the history of Paraná? Women resisted the institutionalized practices that discursively dictated who they should/could be in the social sphere. The domestic space was reserved for female subjects, and the public space, a prestigious and valued space, was freely accessible to men. They fought, confronted and resisted the norms.
