 	abstract = "The implementation and functioning of the labor and education in Industrial Penitentiary were described and analyzed from the historical survey, checking how these activities were related with a view to social reintegration. The study of this institution is justified to have represented for a long time, a benchmark in criminal treatment, because of its focus on the job. The time span of the analysis starts on its opening in 1999 until the first rebellion in 2014, marking the end of the cycle when it was considered a "model". Thus, we have used bibliographic and documentary survey, and notes based on field research using interviews and questionnaires with prison staff and prisoners. The results have showed the ambivalence of educational concepts and work in the prison system, in addition to the deterioration of its postulate while serving a sentence as industrial work.",
