Abstract: This dissertation aims to analyze the connections between theory and practice of local history by teachers of the initial years of Elementary School in the municipal network of Irati, thus problematizing the teaching of History at this level of education. To this end, field research was carried out in the municipal schools Antonina Fillus Panka and Olaria Filipak, both located in Irati - PR. The purpose of this field research was to compare the answers present in the questionnaire answered by the teachers with the actual pedagogical practice in the classroom and, thus, record the possible approximations, distances and contradictions existing between these two spheres. The field research, of a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive nature, was supported by bibliography pertinent to the subject and divided into two fronts. First, a questionnaire was applied to the teachers of both schools, in order to elucidate the ideas, perceptions and convictions of the teachers regarding the relationship between the teaching of History and local history, having as a background their pedagogical practices; Next, the observation of these teachers' classes was carried out. Thus, far from intending to propose an eminently bibliographical and theoretical-methodological discussion, this dissertation sought to contribute to the debate regarding the potentialities that exist between the teaching of history and local history, based on a perspective situated in space and time, in order to bring new elements about the theme, especially for educators who work with similar historical realities. With the development of this research, the following result was reached as a response to the problem: In general, the teachers' conceptions regarding local history were reflected in the observed classes. Convergences and divergences were noted between discourse and practice, making evident the teachers' concern with the valorization of local history in the classroom.

Abstract: Sustainable forest management is one of the main activities carried out in the Amazon.
However, to efficiently manage natural forests, it is crucial to understand their structure
and accurately estimate their timber stock. In this context, the aim of this study was to
test and compare different strategies, modeling methods, and downgrade coefficients to
estimate the individual commercial volume of native Amazonian species, identifying the
most appropriate one for estimating commercial volume. The data on diameter at breast
height (dbh), commercial height, and commercial volume used in the estimates were
obtained through a complete (100%) forest inventory, trees cubage, and log scaling at
Annual Production Unit number two (APU-2), located in the Tapajós National Forest,
Belterra, Pará, Brazil. The methods used for volume estimates included form factor,
traditional models without stratification (generic equation), stratified models (speciesspecific
equations and diameter class-based equations), as well as mixed-effects models
and artificial neural networks (ANN). These methods were applied to two data sources:
whole stem cubage (scenario 1), considering 13 relative positions along the commercial
height, and data derived from log scaling (scenario 2), a phase of forest management in
which cubage is performed on logs that typically range between 4 and 7 meters in length.
The species studied were Dipteryx odorata (Aubl.) Forsyth f., Hymenaea parvifolia
Huber, Lecythis lurida (Miers) S.A. Mori, Manilkara elata (Allemão ex Miq.) Monach
and Mezilaurus itauba (Meisn.) Taub. ex Mez, which account for 54% of the total
harvested volume in APU-2. Diameter class intervals of 15, 20 and 25 cm were used in
the adjustments. To compare and select the most accurate method, Pearson's correlation
coefficient (rŷy), root mean square error (RMSE %), bias, and residual graphical analysis
were considered. In addition to volumetric estimates, downgrade coefficients between
inventoried and harvested commercial volumes were also generated. The results obtained
across the evaluated scenarios were similar; however, the methods demonstrated better
fit statistics and precision with the cubage data. In this scenario, errors ranged from 8.86%
to 13.56% for the best adjustments of each method. For the log scaling data, the errors
were higher, ranging from 15.13% to 34.90%. Volume estimates using form factors
resulted in the highest errors compared to other methods in both scenarios and are
therefore not recommended. The generic models also showed relatively low accuracy,
being only slightly more accurate than the form factor. However, the implementation of
stratification in traditional regression models improved the accuracy of the volume
estimates. In both generic and stratified equations, the double-entry models were more accurate compared to Husch's single-entry model, with the Schumacher and Hall model
standing out as the most efficient in all situations. Mixed-effects modeling, while
promising, was slightly less accurate than the traditional stratified models by species.
Nevertheless, the estimates obtained using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) showed the
best statistical performance in both analyzed scenarios, emerging as the most
recommended method for commercial volume estimation. Finally, downgrade
coefficients proved to be effective tools for increasing the accuracy of harvest volume
estimates, providing more realistic predictions and contributing to the optimization and
planning of forest operations.

Abstract: Brazil has countless sources of biomass, mainly waste from production processes, such as Bamboo and Eucalyptus. This waste needs appropriate means of use, since its improper disposal and disposal can cause environmental impacts. Fresh biomass is an alternative source of energy generation; however, some characteristics can limit its use such as low density, high moisture content and low calorific value when compared to fossil fuels. These characteristics can be improved by using compaction techniques and heat treatments, such as pelletizing and torrefaction. Transforming biomass into pellets increases the quality of the biofuel, reducing its volume and standardizing its dimensions. On the other hand, torrefaction can contribute by eliminating moisture and increasing hydrophobicity and calorific value. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the quality of pellets produced from biomass of the species Phyllostachys aurea (bamboo) and Eucalyptus dunnii (Eucalyptus), used raw and previously torrefied. The pellets produced with torrefied biomass presented superior qualities to those produced from raw biomass, especially for chemical and energy properties, such as fixed carbon and calorific value. Regarding mechanical durability, the averages were lower. In a second step, the pellets from raw biomass were subjected to torrefaction, demonstrating that, for some properties, such as chemical and energy, the torrefied pellets were superior. However, the mechanical properties of the pellets after torrefaction were impaired, such as durability and fines content. Therefore, in general, it was possible to conclude that bamboo biomass is an alternative source for biofuel production, with torrefaction being a pretreatment that can help improve the quality of the final product.

Abstract: This thesis aims to understand the stereotypes that Palmital, a small city in the state of Paraná, carries. Known by many people as a town with a brave population, Palmital is portrayed in oral narratives by both its residents and neighboring cities, besides the social medias, as a violent place. The thesis is developed from this perspective, with a time frame from 1960 to 1980, it was executed based on criminal proceedings, aiming to comprehend the occupancy of the space and verify if it was the axis guiding of the violence relations. Besides that, the thesis seeks to understand the town’s resident experiences. The research also shows how social medias represent Palmital, pointing out the current impacts of it. For a better comprehension of the subjects, reasons and places involved in the physical aggressions, that were led to homicides, this research makes a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the criminal proceedings at the judicial district of Palmital.
