EFICIÊNCIA DA P4 INJETÁVEL ASSOCIADA AO EFEITO MACHO SOBRE A TAXA DE PRENHEZ DE CABRAS DA RAÇA BOER NA CONTRA ESTAÇÃO

Abstract

Goats are seasonally polyestrous, therefore, production is restricted to a certain time of the year, with estrus manipulations, this production can be distributed throughout the year. The objective of this work was to estimate the reproductive viability of Boer goats, after administration of injectable P4, associated or not with the male effect, during the off-season in the southern region of Paraná, evaluating the pregnancy rate, parturition rate, twin deliveries, number of births and concentration of births. The work was carried out on a beef goat property, using 72 goats randomly distributed in three experimental groups. In the group (G1; n=22) the females were stimulated by the male effect, in the G2 (n=25), the animals received 75 mg of injectable P4, intramuscularly, at the beginning of the experiment. In G3 (n=25), the goats received 75 mg of injectable P4, intramuscularly, at the beginning of the experiment and in addition to being subjected to the male effect. These goats were in a breeding season of 60 days. The pregnancy rate, parturition rate, percentage of twin births and the number of kids born per group were evaluated. The study showed similar results between the experimental groups, concentrating the births of the G1 and G3 groups, which presented a significantly higher percentage than the G2 (p<0.05), concentrating the births of the puppies. In this way, the use of injectable P4 is an alternative to assist in the reproductive activity of Boer goats in the off season in properties that cannot perform the male effect.
